Volunteer Social Media Manager

Note: this is an unpaid volunteer role requiring on average 10-15 hours per week

The Volunteer Social Media Manager position is a public facing role that helps
generate interest in adoptable cats! TKR is active on two social media platforms:
Facebook and Instagram. The Meta Business Suite allows for cross posting on both
platforms allowing TKR to maintain synchronicity in the posts, branding and
organization messaging.

The majority of the social media posts are of adoptable cats and adoption updates.
The adoptable cats can be found on the TKR website, along with photos/videos to
download and the cat’s profile. Adoption updates are mostly shared by TKR
adoptions team via Slack or text messages. Sometimes adoption promotions or
fundraising requests are posted on TRK social media.

During busy kitten season TKR posts on social media about 3-4 times a day. Off
season about once a day.

Responsibilities of the Social Media Manager position:
• Create social media content including Post available cat’s photos and profiles and
adoption updates
• Respond to messages or replies within 24 hours
• “Like” replies on TKR posts
• Update cover photos as necessary
• Thank those who host TKR social media Fundraisers

Key skills we are looking for:
• Love cats!
• Knowledge of social media platforms
• Knowledge of Slack, or the willingness to learn Slack since this system is the
communication hub of TKR staff and high-level volunteers

Must be organized
Must be self-directed
Trustworthy, Nimble and Collaborative
Canva or design skills a plus, but not required
